Massive vintage Haitian wooden carved statue, 35 inches.
This was purchased on Haiti in the early 1970's while on a Cruise. The ship made port and there was a man selling these just off the dock. He had hand carved all of these, and was carving other statues in front of me. He had very little, and I was moved to purchase one.
The figure is in good condition. Stained with a dark color , leaving only the underbase and part of the eye unstained. It is a rough carving underneath but took craftsmanship to make. There is a crack at the top of the shovel that connects to his arm. It still seems secure. I am happy to include more pictures upon request sent via message through eBay.
