    Description

Being offered is a tribal, ebony-wood, hand-carved, cape buffalo from Kenya, Africa, 1960s.
This piece belonged to the late Dr. Hans Peter Deschler who worked in Kenya in the 1960s-1970s before passing in a plane crash. Hans Peter's bother, Wolfgang, is the owner of the Oasis Lodge in Loiyangalani, Kenya.
This particular carving was at Hans Peter's mother's house in Friedrichshafen, Germany where is was acquired on a family visit in 1995.
Dr Hans Peter had many African mementos in the Friedrichshafen home that were given to him by various African tribes for the work in had done in Kenya in the 1960s & 1970s.  This cape buffalo is from that collection.
This is a nice authentic piece of African art and not from the tourist trade.
