VINTAGE PHOTO POSTCARD SIGNED by JOE GARAGIOLA of the ST. LOUIS CARDINALS. This photo is affixed to black construction paper measuring approx. 4 3/4" x 5 7/8". The autograph is in blue sharpie.Garagiola, who was born in and grew up in St. Louis, played for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1946-1951. From 1951-1954 he bounced to the Pirates, Cubs and New York Giants (5 games). Overall in 676 games he hit .257 with 42 home runs. After baseball he was a television personality for decades, including co-host of NBC's
Today
(1967-1973) and host of several game shows, such as
Sale of the Century
and
To Tell the Truth
. In 1973 he won a Peabody Award for his work at NBC. In 1991 he was presented the Ford C. Frick Award for Broadcasting by the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
