"Party Animals" at Happy Hour!
This set is comprised of all Hand Carved Wood with 14 pieces--Table (shaped like Africa), wine bottle, 6 glasses, and 6 safari animals.
Each is a solid piece of hand carved wood. Each animal and stool he is sitting on is carved as one piece.
There is a Giraffe, Elephant, Leopard, Zebra, Lion and Rhino. The Lion had the stool leg broken off and it is glued back on.
The Rhino has a half broken horn. Other than that all the pieces are in very good condition.
Working with many individual carvers these handicrafts from Machakos, Kenya are primarily made of wood and bone worldwide.
Carving is a tradition in Kenya with the children learning the craft from their parents. Everything is carved by hand using rudimentary hand tools. They
use many of the native species of trees for their carvings such as mahogany and mpingo, or 'African Ebony'.
