    Description

    VINTAGE FON TWIN FIGURE
    This delightful female surrogate twin figure stands naked on a circular plinth, her features been worn smooth from decades of handling and feeding;
    she wears an elaborate cross-hatched hairstyle and is decorated solely with beadwork adornments. The Fon residing in Benin carve small wooden
    Hohovi
    figures used for the protection of a surviving twin, similar in purpose but different in features and body style from the Ewe
    Venavi
    twin figures.

    In a marketplace teeming with fake “African Art” often artificially aged for quick sale to inexperienced buyers
    or bargain-hunting shoppers at impossibly low cost, it is becoming increasingly difficult to acquire genuine old
    and ethnographically significant artworks used by indigenous group members.
    Authenticity is unconditionally guaranteed -
