    Description

This is an akua'ba doll from the Asante tribe of Ghana. Condition is Used. Typical features are a disc shaped head with a face confined to the bottom half or third of the disc. The mouth is generally positioned near the very bottom, leaving no room for the chin. Eyes shaped like coffee beans or half moons are framed by long arching eyebrows that connect at the bridge of the nose. Short, cone shaped arms project at right angles from the body. The figure is usually legless, having a base slightly larger that its cylindrical body.
This one is 11.75" x 6.375" x 1.5". The back of the head has no design carved into it.
I am reducing my collection of African masks and will have additional listings over the coming weeks.
